The Rules

Participating is simple. First, make an account on the board here as PokeBang is being hosted on this board. Sign-ups will open on January 1st and stay open until January 8th. During this week, you can sign up as any of three things: author, artist, or beta. You can sign up in one category or any combination of the three, however you feel you want to be involved. Just don't overdo it and stress yourself out! Once you are signed up, here's what you do:

If you are an author:
You are writing at least 10,000 words related to our theme in any way you decide. Any pairings, any genres, any rating, any universe is allowed. You may go well over the 10k word limit, but make sure that you have at least 10k words and that your fic is not a project that has previously been posted anywhere. We want new material from you! This is a challenge, but everyone involved has got your back, don't worry! Plus, you have about five months to finish your fanfic, giving you plenty of time. Once the check in day arrives, you'll submit your drafts, summaries, ratings, and warnings to the moderators and wait patiently as artists claim the anonymous summaries to do some sort of art for. Don't worry, everyone will be paired up! From there, collaborate with your artist to form a great team and produce some stunning fanfic/art combos!

If you are an artist:
You are doing something creative based off the work of the author you choose! Once the authors have submitted their drafts, a thread displaying the anonymous summaries of fanfiction submitted by our authors will be posted. You will submit your top 5 to the moderators and be paired up with one or more authors, depending on if you are comfortable providing art for more than one author and if there are more authors than artists signed up. You are not limited to just artwork. Music, AMVs, voice acting, playlists, cosplay, anything creative goes! If you feel comfortable doing more than one thing for one fanfic, bless your heart and get to getting! Work alongside your author and showcase both of your amazing talents as a team!

If you are a beta:
You are signing up to help authors along the way. Beta readers not only check the grammar and spelling of a fanfic, they also provide feedback on plot and support for authors. Writing is tough as it is, and 10k words is a lot, so do your best to support your author as they will probably encounter some bumps along the way. You are not limited to only one author, but as we want to keep everything a secret before the posting days, please do not reveal any information to other authors, artists, fans, etc. You, too, are part of this amazing team, so do your best!

PokeBang covers about five months. Make sure to keep track of important dates (found in their own thread) because while this is not a contest by any means, if you can't make a deadline, the moderators have to drop you from the event. It isn't fair to your team members if you can't complete something and they are left out of the event. We do not want to punish anyone, we just want to keep things fair for everyone participating. We also understand that life can get hectic, so if for whatever reason you feel you need to drop out of the event, please let us know immediately so that we can rearrange things and leave no one behind. Your cooperation in this is greatly appreciated! 

Remember that this is not a competition by any means. Take this opportunity to meet amazing people in this huge fandom and create some incredible fanfiction and artwork!
