Claiming your fic for this year's PokeBang might sound daunting, but it's really easy. Below will be anonymous summaries of fics submitted to the moderators, complete with ratings and warnings. Starting March 3rd, simply select your top 5 fics and do the following:
If you want a particular fic:
Submit your application in the format below to pokebangmod@gmail.com.
PokeBang board username:
Other usernames (tumblr, FFN, AO3, DeviantArt, etc):
I will be making/doing: (traditional/digital/audio/cosplay)
I am willing to work on more than one fic: (yes/no)
My preferred fics:
If you do not care which fic you get:
The mods will gladly set you up with a fic if you either don't care which you work on or are indecisive! Submit this application to pokebangmod@gmail.com instead.

My preferred fics: I have no preference and will accept the fic chosen for me by the moderators.
I cannot work with: (Please list any ratings, warnings, subjects, or pairings you don't want to work with.)
If you will not be available for claiming but would still like to participate:
We the mods understand that life can get in the way. If you are afraid you will be unable to claim a fic, get in contact with another artist and have them submit your claim for you. Obviously they will need to make sure that they differentiate between their application and yours. You can use one of the above applications for this.
Please keep in mind that this period of fic claiming is probably the most anxiety-inducing part of the PokeBang experience. Do not discuss which fics are being claimed when and how quickly to anyone. Authors will be convinced that no one will want to claim their fic, so do not add to their fears by saying anything about the claiming process to them. If you are both an author and and artist and therefore can see the claiming process, you are a fabulous author and will have an artist. Please support everyone participating in this event. That's the whole point, after all!
What happens after claims have been sent?
For the most part, claiming will be first-come-first-serve. We will be keeping track of claims by the timestamp on your emails. Summaries written below will be crossed out as fics are claimed to avoid confusion and frustration on your part. Once you have been paired up, you and your partner will receive an email with your contact information. This event works extremely well if you get in contact with your partner and work together to make your artwork/fanfiction, so we encourage you to stay in touch.
If all of the fics you have claimed are unavailable, we will send you and email from the pokebangmod email asking for an updated claim list from you.
There is a good chance there will be an uneven number of authors to artists. Not to worry, everyone will be paired up one way or another. In the very likely event this happens, one of two things will happen:
Authors > Artists: Those artists who were willing to take on more than one fic will be allowed to choose another from the list of fics remaining. The rules stated above will then apply.
Artists > Authors: Once all fics have been claimed once, they will be reopened for those artists who had not been partnered up with yet. The rules stated above will then apply, but the mods will take into consideration various mediums so that the same fic may have diversity in artwork. Partnerships with three participants will be given the info of all members of the partnership. Artists are not required to be in contact with their partnered artists, but it is always encouraged.
How do I do the thing?
Once partnered up, you are required to create at least one piece of art. Feel free to create more than one if you would like, and feel free to use a different kind of medium for the second, third, etc. if you would like. The check-in day for artists is April 24th. You will be required to send in a draft of at least one art. If you have more than one, please send in drafts of those as well. These do not need to be finished products, but the mods would like to see that you are well on your way and just about ready to post. More details on how to submit these drafts will be available as the date approaches.
If you feel that you can no longer participate please inform the mods immediately so that we can arrange participants accordingly. We understand if life gets in the way and you won't be able to finish by your posting date, but it would be a shame for an author to end up with no artwork to accompany it. Try to keep us updated if you can!
And that's it, that's all you need to know! Sign up and lets get started!
